Modern Family season 3, episode 11 :Lifetime Supply

Phil is perfect. He always is. If I think an episode of ModFam is gonna be weak I can at least count on him to rock it! And to me, I thought this episode was overall fairly weak, so thank you Phil for being awesome and saving the experience of watching the show. 

I guess I just did not care for the Manny and Jay stuff at all. It felt off and just very unfunny. I don’t know exactly why but I just did not enjoy watching those scenes. The only part of the episode next to Phil that I liked was the resolution to the Trophy drama. I could relate to Alex’s rant so hardcore and then I related even harder with Mitch’s “I’m being a teenage girl” realization. So I guess I enjoyed how relatable that scene was. 

Modern Family season 3, episode 10: Express Christmas

Only Modern Family could have made this funny. It was a good idea for an episode don’t get me wrong but no other show had the right formula to make this episode hilarious. It was the perfect time for it too because the family had yet to spend an entire episode together or paired off differently as in this one. I liked seeing Cam and Jay, Phil and Manny (I really liked those two together), Gloria and Luke (they need to have more moments too), and finally Mitch and Alex (just brilliant). It was truly amazing that Modern Family waited three seasons to show these pairs work, and now we have MORE to ask from them which was smart on their part. 

Modern Family season 3, episode 9: Punkin Chunkin

LOVE IT! This show is so funny all the time. And Phil is PERFECT. Thought I admit I hate when married couples fight because its awkward but I was siding with Phil because LET HIM DREAM WOMAN! The sweet moments at the end though…. I was touched. lol

Also WHAT was the guy from Book of Mormon, who I met btw, doing on ModFam???

Suburgatory season one, episode 6: Charity Case. I really liked this episode. I liked the satire and Tessa and even the random side-story. I was glad they finally gave Alan Tudyk’s character emotion instead of just having him be eccentric, and I really liked to see George be all silly. I am still forever in love with all things Tessa. 

Modern Family season 3, episode 7: Treehouse. Also a good episode. They are toning down the embarrassing in the Mitch and Cam stories which is good. They are still making Luke seem smarter which I still like. And that ENTIRE interaction between Phil and Andre was so perfect. 

Modern Family season 3, episode 6: Go Bullfrogs! 

Wow. Just overall a really solid episode. Extremely funny, well-crafted, and just really really good. It did the MF thing of taking some traditional sitcom story-lines and making them new and funny and I would argue more natural. Phil would embarrass Hailey but I feel it was just so natural for them to get along, and I was happy that they did. I also just love Phil. Especially when he got all upset that he was wrong about Hailey. 

However, I had one complaint about the show last week and I was very pleased to see it almost rectified. Mitch and Cam have been too predictable. They get into some dumb, hard-to-watch situation and it is always irrelevant. This week they were witty and funny and they weren’t in an embarrassing situation per-say but they were still sert aside from the other stories. I really think the show could benefit from giving Mitch and Cam more stories with the other families. Sometimes it just feels like they are so detached. At least they had Claire with them at the beginning. ALSO the amount of gpoy between their rut and mine was unbearable.

Top
